Dressing for the Bank
- Navy Blue or Dark Grey Suit: Black can be too harsh; dark blue is standard.
- Crisp White Shirt: No wild patterns or bright colors.
- Conservative Tie: Keep the loud designs for the weekend.
- Polished Black Shoes: Pay attention to your footwear.
- Minimal Jewelry: Keep it simple and professional.
Nigerian banks are conservative. Very conservative. You are not going to a fashion show; you are going to show you can manage people’s money. Your appearance must scream “trustworthy.”
I’ve sent candidates home for showing up in flashy blazers or overpowering perfume. Keep it muted, keep it sharp. Make sure your clothes are ironed—buy a generator or iron it the night before if NEPA is acting up. First impressions are formed before you even open your mouth.
